Weekly Preview

Well, it looks like Fall is in full swing....chilly air, leaves changing colors and pumpkins everywhere.  What a fun time of year!  During Reading this week, we will practice noting details while reading in small group and whole group reading.  We will learn about the short o sound and review the letters x,c,d,l, and n.  We will continue with small group reading where we will continue to do word study on your child's instructional level.  We will not have a writing focus piece this week or next week as we will be writing sentences into our Symbols book.  This will help reinforce the symbols we are learning about in Social Studies for the next 2 weeks.

We will continue to review friends of 10 ten in math.  They have been doing a great job with this and have a good idea of how to decompose numbers.

In Social Studies, we will learn about American Symbols.  Our focus will be on the American Flag, the Pledge of Allegiance, the Bald Eagle, the Statue of Liberty and the Washington Monument.  We will learn facts about each symbol and why that symbol is significant for America.  We will incorporate this into writing as well.

Things to Remember:

Please send in a snack daily.
K-2 Learning Night, October 21, 6:30-7:30 ( an event for students and parents )
October 22- Field Trip, more info to come!

Have a great week!
Mrs. Beltz
